Chronic non-communicable diseases, particularly cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, remain major public health challenges, and dietary interventions have been widely investigated as non - pharmacological strategies to modulate cardiometabolic risk factors. Açaí (Euterpe oleracea), a fruit rich in bioactive compounds, antioxidants and plant -derived lipids, has been studied for its potential effects on metabolic markers. This study aimed to synthesise the available evidence on the impact of açaí consumption on total lipid levels in humans. A systematic review with meta - analysis was conducted in accordance with PR ISMA guidelines, using searches in MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science. Clinical trials and intervention studies involving human participants receiving açaí in any form and reporting data on total lipids were eligible. Study selection, data e xtraction and risk of bias assessment were performed by independent reviewers, and the quantitative synthesis used a random-effects model. Of 188 records initially identified, 8 studies met the eligibility criteria for the systematic review, and 2 provided sufficient data for meta -analysis of the total lipids outcome. The pooled analysis showed a significant reduction in total lipid levels associated with açaí consumption, with a mean difference of -9.80 mg/dL, 95% confidence interval from -13.94 to -5.66, and no observed heterogeneity across the included studies. Although other lipid markers yielded inconsistent findings across the broader literature, the specific outcome of total lipids showed a favourable and methodologically consistent signal in this synthesis. In conclusion, açaí consumption may contribute to reducing total lipid levels, suggesting a potential cardiometabolic benefit. However, the current evidence base remains limited by the small number of studies available for this outcome, highlightin g the need for more robust randomised clinical trials to confirm the magnitude and clinical applicability of this effect.Publicado
